Category: Local worth trying

Pedra e Alma means "Stone and Soul".

I have not tried this but on the strength of Quinta do Centro's Pedra Basta I recommend you try it.

Grape Varieties: Trincadeira, Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet and Grand Noir. Harvested by hand, fermented in Lagares with maceration of 4 weeks, producing only 3000 bottles.

What it says on the label.

Quote openPedra e Alma ("Stone and Soul") is produced from the oldest vines at Quinta do Centro, high in the Serra de Sao Mamede. Planted around thirty years ago on granite soils, these vines yield small quantities of fruit which give depth and concentration to this wine. Only the most successful vintages are released, the wine having been aged for 18 months in new french oak before bottling.Quote close

Where to find Pedra e Alma.

You might not see Pedra e Alma in the main supermarkets. Since it is not released every year you might have to look around for it. It should appear in some of the Artesanato shops and local speciality produce shops in places where tourist would go. It also appears in better restaurants. In Portalegre you might find it in the delicatessen at the top of the steps by the entrance to Pingo Doce which is at the top of the main central park.
